Let's get started by showing you how to sign up for Reddit. It's one of the lowest-hassle accounts you'll ever own.
In the upper right-hand corner of the Reddit page, you'll find a link to register for a new account.
This will open up the "create a new account" dialogue box. The hardest part is thinking up a user name that isn't already taken!
One of the things that makes Reddit an interesting place is that allows total anonymity. Users have Reddit usernames, but they aren't required to verify by email (although you can if you want to) or confirm their identity in any way. Users are allowed to have as many usernames as they want, and creating "throwaway" accounts to use when discussing sensitive subjects, or any time you don't want your regular ID connected to a discussion thread, is an accepted practice. This can have both positive and negative effects, but it means that Reddit is a space where freedom of expression is vigorously protected. It also means that signing up is quick and easy!
Here's our account creation dialogue box again, this time all filled in. You can even use this account to follow along with this tutorial if you want: the username and password are both "awesomelib".
