I'm an avid Redditor, and have been for years. And there's something that's been bugging me: librarians love Metafilter, and Twitter, and Pinterest, and so many other social sharing platforms... so why are there so few librarians on Reddit?
Reddit is a great example of how information flows on the Internet. It's a place where users share not just cat pictures and Internet memes, but also their questions, their stories, and their ideas. It's a vehicle for sharing links, but it also exists as a kind of community, and as such it offers endless opportunities for librarians to connect and engage not only with each other, but also with a pool of users who value information for its own sake.
So I've made this tutorial as an invitation to other librarians to jump into Reddit, complete with a first set of subreddits to help you get started. Let's go!
