The purpose of LI805, Management and Information Organizations, is to introduce the foundations and skills necessary for the management of libraries.  I studied the ideas of Cameron Drucker regarding historical and current models of management. This strategic plan was developed to guide our example library toward three goals: the replacement of a retiring staff member, the development of a digital collection, and improved accessibility of a special collection.  I performed research on effective hiring practices, budgeting, project management, and long-term facilities and infrastructure planning to create a practical and realizable strategic plan. Through this process, I enhanced my ability to effectively manage and administer the needs of the modern library, and to plan for those needs over the long term.
